The purpose of the Award is to recognize a young pipeliner who has submitted a paper to the International Pipeline Conference 2016 (IPC 2016). This will draw attention to the young professionals in the pipeline industry, the current challenges that the industry is facing and the work the Young Pipeliners Association of Canada (YPAC) is doing.
In order to take part in the competition the applicant should satisfy the following criteria:
- Be under 35 years old, or have less than 10 years of experience in the industry,
- Have a paper accepted by the IPC 2016,
- Register the accepted paper on YPAC website by September 5, 2016
- Present a poster on the accepted paper at the IPC 2016 Poster Session

IPC Publication Types
All three paper types (technical, student and poster paper) are acceptable for this award. For accepted technical and student papers, a poster needs to be developed and presented for YPAC award evaluation. Accepted IPC Poster paper can be presented for YPAC award evaluation.
Selection and Poster Session
Upon verification of publication registration submitted on the YPAC Website, invites will be sent to the accepted award applicants to prepare poster presentations. Posters of accepted papers will be on display at the IPC 2016 Poster Session. Poster presenters are expected to spend some time during breaks at the conference at their poster to discuss their research. Presenters will be notified of the approximate time the reviewers will visit each poster and of the time constraints of the on-site presentation.
The final winner will be announced during the IPC Awards Luncheon.

One participant will win a paid trip* as an invited guest to the PRCI Research Exchange Meeting in Houston, TX taking place on February 21-22, 2017. More information can be found here regarding the meeting.
The PRCI Research Exchange Meeting is scheduled each year to provide PRCI member companies, our key research partners, and external stakeholders with a report on the important research results and outcomes from key projects and programs focused on improving pipeline safety and integrity. The meeting will include two days of technical sessions where the results of PRCI-funded R&D projects and programs are presented to the attendees. There will also be specially arranged opportunities during that week for the winner to visit with some of our member operating companies to meet some experienced industry professionals.
