Continuing Education – Is It Right For You?

In these uncertain times, many students are considering graduate programs but would like to further understand its value in industry, financial drawbacks and gains, and its opportunity costs. YPAC is hosting a virtual panel discussion focusing on the benefits and/or drawbacks of continuing education. This event aims to give students insight on what a Masters or Doctorate degree can do for their careers in industry. Join us to hear a panel of professionals with various graduate degrees reflect on their decision to pursue higher education. The panel will go through discussing pre-set questions while also leaving time for audience comments, so bring your questions!


Tran Mah-Paulson
Tran has a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Biomedical Engineering with Distinction from the University of Alberta. He also has a M.B.A. from both Queen’s University and Cornell University. Tran currently works as a Senior Engineer with ATCO developing and managing ATCOs Maintenance and Intervention program.

Michael Aikman
Michael has a B.Sc. in Biologic Science from the University of Alberta, B.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto, MEng and Ph.D. in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering from the University of Calgary, and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas. Michael is currently the President and Director of Trindade Reservoir Services Inc.

Andrea Marciales Ramirez
Andrea has a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the Industrial University of Santander and a M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta. She is currently a Researcher in Corrosion Engineering working at InnoTech Alberta Inc.

Stella Cunha
Stella has a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering from the University of Minas Gerais and an MEng in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Pipeline Engineering from the University of Calgary. She is currently an EIT in Pipeline Design at Enbridge.
